II A PHOTOGRAPHIC CHRONICLE OF THE ELITE GEBIRGSJAGGER - Schiffer
Publications - ISBN# 0764322184 - BRAND NEW Oversized Hardcover in Dust Jacket - 272pp
- Under the emblem of the Edelweis, the soldiers of the German mountain corps fought on every
front in the Second World War ? in the tundra of Lapland, in the gorges of the Balkans, on Crete,
in the High Caucasus, at Monte Cassino and finally in Upper Italy and the Western Alps, at the
Semmering, in Bavaria and Tyrol. Mountain troops even formed part of Rommel?s famed
Afrikakorps. During the war, the army alone formed a total of eleven mountain divisions, plus
independent battalions and units. The accomplishments of the ?Men of the Edelweis? are still
held in high regard by historians and military experts. Armed forces and special units worldwide
use their alpine and combat abilities as an example, for in mountain fighting the weather and the
terrain often caused more casualties than the enemy. Through impressive photographs and brief,
insightful text, this chronicle offers the reader and extraordinary view into the world of these elite
troops, who were always committed where the outcome hung in the balance -Direct shipped in

Knickerbocker, H. R. - DANGER FORWARD, THE STORY OF THE FIRST
DIVISION IN WORLD WAR II - Battery Press - ISBN# 0898390338 -BRAND NEW
Oversized Hardcover issued without jacket - Reprint of 1947 Original - 479 pages, 115 photos,
19 maps - A regular army unit, the First Infantry Division was one of the first combat formations
to move overseas in WWII. Overseas: 7 August 1942. Campaigns: Algeria-French Morocco,
Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, ArdennesAlsace, Central Europe. Days
of Combat: 443. The 1st Infantry Division saw its first combat in World War II in North Africa,
landing at Oran and taking part in the initial fighting, 8-10 November 1942. Elements then took
part in seesaw combat at Maktar, Medjez el Bab, Kasserine Pass, Gafsa, El Guettar, Beja, and
Mateur, 21 January-9 May 1943, helping secure Tunisia. The First was the first ashore in the
invasion of Sicily, 10 July 1943 ; it fought a series of short, fierce battles on the island's tortuous
terrain. When that campaign was over, the Division returned to England to prepare for the
Normandy invasion. The First Division assaulted Omaha Beach on D-day, 6 June 1944, some
units suffering 30 percent casualties in the first hour, and secured Formigny and Caumont in the
beachhead. The Division followed up the St. Lo break-through with an attack on Marigny, 27
July 1944, and then drove across France in a continuous offensive, reaching the German border
at Aachen in September. The Division laid siege to Aachen, taking the city after a direct assault,
21 October 1944. The First then attacked east of Aachen through Hurtgen Forest, driving to the
Roer, and moved to a rest area 7 December for its first real rest in 6 months' combat, when the
von Rundstedt offensive suddenly broke loose, 16 December. The Division raced to the
Ardennes, and fighting continuously from 17 December 1944 to 28 January 1945, helped blunt
and turn back the German offensive. Thereupon, the Division attacked and again breached the
Siegfried Line, fought across the Roer, 23 February 1945, and drove on to the Rhine, crossing at
the Remagen bridgehead, 15-16 March 1945. The Division broke out of the bridgehead, took part
in the encirclement of the Ruhr Pocket, captured Paderborn, pushed through the Harz Mountains,
and was in Czechoslovakia, at Kinsperk, Sangerberg, and Mnichov, when the war in Europe
ended. Nicknames: The Red One; The Fighting First. Slogan: No mission too difficult, no
sacrifice too great, duty first. Shoulder patch: Red Arabic numeral "I" on solid olive drab

Knoblock, Glenn A. - AFRICAN AMERICAN WORLD WAR II
CASUALTIES AND DECORATIONS IN THE NAVY, COAST GUARD AND MERCHANT
MARINE - A COMPREHENSIVE RECORD- McFarland Publishing - ISBN#
9780786434732 - BRAND NEW Laminated Full-Size Softcover - 580pp - Photos - Appendices -
Biblio - Index - This book is an account of the 2,445 African American men who were killed or
wounded or decorated during World War II in the Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine.
Because of the nature of the military's racial policies, most of these men served either in the
Steward's Branch or in subordinate positions. As a result, the role of these fighting men has
largely been ignored. This book attempts to rectify this oversight, documenting each man lost
with groupings primarily by ship and by shore service, as well as separate chapters for those lost
at Pearl Harbor and those who died in the explosion at Port Chicago, an incident which
accounted for about 20 percent of all deaths among African American seamen during the war.
Information of a more personal nature about each man is often included, highlighted by input
from surviving black veterans as well as recollections from several families whose sons, fathers,
and brothers were lost in the war. Also featured are several African Americans who were
decorated posthumously for acts of bravery and heroism during their service, including Navy
Cross winners Dorie Miller, William Pinckney and Leonard Roy Harmon -

: THE DEATH OF A BALL TURRET GUNNER- Univ Oklahoma Press - ISBN#
0806138920 - BRAND NEW Hardcover in Dust Jacket - 256pp - Photos - Notes - Index - To all
appearances, Anthony "Tony" Korkuc was just another casualty of World War II. A gunner on a
B-17 Flying Fortress, Korkuc was lost on a bombing mission over Germany, and his family
believed that his body had never been recovered. But when they learned in 1995 that Tony was
actually buried at Arlington National Cemetery, his nephew Bob Korkuc set out on a seven-year
quest to learn the true fate of an uncle he never knew. Finding a Fallen Hero is a compelling story
that blends a wartime drama with a primer on specialized research. Author Bob Korkuc initially
set out to learn how his Uncle Tony came to rest at Arlington. In the process, he also unraveled
the mystery of what occurred over the skies of Germany half a century ago. -

GROUP & THE 2ND SCHWEINFURT RAID - Schiffer Publications - ISBN#
0887404456 -BRAND NEW Hardcover in Dust Jacket - 304pp - Notes - Biblio - Index - Photos
- Maps - This is true story of the second raid on Schweinfurt, Germany by the Eighth Air Force
1st and 3rd Bombardment Divisions on 14 October 1943. On this day, the Eighth Air Force lost
air superiority to the German Luftwaffe in a continuous air battle that lasted over three hours.
Many refer to it as the greatest one-day air battle of World War II. Wrong Place, Wrong Time is a
study of the 1st Bombardment Division and specifically the 305th Bomb Group on that fateful
day. Record numbers of German fighters swarmed over the unescorted B-17s and their crews.
Compelling new evidence never before published indicates that mistakes and poor leadership by
several air commanders within the 1st Division caused unnecessary losses for a number of
bombers and their crews. This, together with major new revelations by crew members of the
305th who flew the mission, shed light on why the 1st Division lost 45 out of 60 B-17s that day.
Information for this book comes from the National Archives, the US Air Force Historical
Research Center, overseas sources, and 53 surviving 305th crew members who flew this mission.
George C. Kuhl was a pilot in the 305th Bomb Group during World War II. He lives in Augusta,

ISBN# 0887405177 -BRAND NEW Oversized Hardcover in Dust Jacket - 256pp - A tribute to
one of the top fighter aces of the World War II, this new full length biography appears here in its

Lacroix, Eric/ Wells, Linton - JAPANESE CRUISERS OF THE PACIFIC
WAR- Naval Institute Press - ISBN# 0870213113 -BRAND NEW Hardcover with a Dust
Jacket (Protected in a New Brodart Dust Jacket Cover) - 882pp - Very heavy! Extra shipping
required! Tables - Biblio - Japanese to English Glossary - Index - Photos - Drawings - Built in
secrecy, the legendary cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy were active in all parts of the
Pacific and involved in nearly every naval action of the Pacific War. Based on official Japanese
publications and unpublished documents, this book provides--for the first time--a complete
history of these cruisers, including the 18 "heavy" and 25 "light" cruisers that saw combat, the
two ships incorporated from the Chinese Navy, and others that either were never completed or
never left the drawing board. The development of the various cruiser classes is presented
chronologically, starting with the designs and scout cruiser projects initiated after the
Russo-Japanese War. The authors give a detailed account of the planning, design, and
construction of each cruiser class, along with the numerous prewar and wartime modifications of
the individual ships. Technical particulars are included both in the text and in extensive data
tables. Among the illustrations are more than 250 sets of fully detailed line drawings,
meticulously traced from original blueprints. In addition to outboard profiles and deck plans, the
drawings provide details of internal arrangements, hull lines, armor and machinery not previously
collected in one volume. Prewar and wartime histories of all the ships are also described,
including movements, combat records and damage, refits and modifications, and final fates. The
buildup of the cruiser force in the years prior to World War II is presented in the framework of
the growing rivalry between Japan and the United States in the Pacific, and the resulting changes
in the successive Japanese defense policies between 1907 and 1936. Special attention is paid to
such factors as the influence of prewar political unrest and financial problems in Japan, the Naval
Limitation Treaties, and changing design concepts. Extensive appendixes provide information
never before published in western literature. More than 150 photographs accompany the text,
many not previously published - $175

traded his cigarette ration for a 35mm camera. By hiding that camera under his field jacket, Leff
was able to carry it into battle to record some of the war's most heated fighting. Photographs
snapped while he crouched in a water-filled ditch show Leff's rifle squad burying their heads in
mud as enemy shells come in. Images show a supporting tank on its arrival and later, smoldering
from a direct hit by German fire. These and many more photographs are part of this memoir,
which records Leff's World War II experiences from Gremercey Forest through the Battle of the

history and development of the German air force from 1935 to 1945, with descriptions and
illustrations of almost all of the Luftwaffe's airplanes, including fighters, jet fighters,

II - An Illustrated Guide to Cars, Trucks, Half-Tracks, Motorcycles, Amphibious Vehicles and
Others - McFarland Publishing - ISBN# 9780786428984 - BRAND NEW Laminated
Softcover - Detailed line drawings - Biblio - Index - Glossary - This volume presents a
cross-section of the most common transport vehicles produced and used by the German army.
Tanks plus auxiliary vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, vans, ambulances, trucks and tractors
made it possible for the troops to keep moving. These lightly armored or unarmored
vehicles aka "soft skins" operated behind the front lines, maintaining supply lines, connecting
armies with their home bases, and ultimately determining the outcome of battle. Beginning with
the development of military vehicles in the early 1930s, this volume discusses the ways in which
this new technology influenced and, to some extent, facilitated Hitler's program of rearmament.
Nomenclature, standard equipment, camouflage and the combat roles of the various vehicles are
thoroughly examined. Individual vehicle types are arranged and discussed by the following
classifications: cars and motorcycles; trucks and tractors; half-tracks and wheeled combat
vehicles. Accompanied by well-researched, detailed line drawings, each section deals with a
number of individual vehicles, describing their design, manufacture and specific use - Publisher's List Price = $49.95 -Our Price - $44.95

Berlin', the Soviet offensive launched on April 16, 1945 by Marshals Zhukov and Koniev,
isolated the German Ninth Army and tens of thousands of refugees in the Spreewald pocket,
south east of Berlin. Stalin ordered its encirclement and destruction and his subordinates, eager to
win the race to the Reichstag, pushed General Busse's Ninth Army into a tiny area east of the
village of Halbe. To escape the Spreewald pocket, the remnants of Ninth Army had to pass
through Halbe, where barricades constructed by both sides formed formidable obstacles and the
converging Soviet forces subjected the area to heavy artillery fire. By the time Ninth Army
escaped the Soviet pincers, it had suffered 40,000 killed and 60,000 taken prisoner - Publisher's List Price = $20.95 - Our

September, I was made to understand that the allies would not keep me alive in their hands... It
was 14:00 hours when I saw the first glider land, followed by others and then groups of men
approached the refuge, prepared to eliminate any resistance. The guards watching over me
couldn。t understand what was happening and didn't fire. The whole thing lasted five minutes.
The enterprise, example of the Germans' organisation, decision and sense of initiative would be
remembered in the history of the war. In time it will become legendary." With these prophetic
words, Mussolini himself described the audacious Operation Oak raid by German Waffen-SS
that freed him from his captors in the Hotel Campo Imperatore. This book provides a complete,

infamous leaders, Mussolini. - Publisher's List Price = $17.95 - Our Price - $15.95

INFANTRY DIVISION IN WORLD WAR II - Battery Press - ISBN# 0898391180 -
BRAND NEW Hardcover - 496 pages, 61 photos, 16 maps - Originally published in 1950 by
Infantry Journal Press as the official unit history for the 7th Infantry Division in World War II.
Details on the unit as follows. Activated: 1 July 1940. Overseas: 24 April 1943. Campaigns:
Aleutian Islands, Leyte, Eastern Mandates, Ryukyus. Days of combat: 208. Elements of the 7th
Infantry Division first saw combat in the amphibious assault on Attu, western-most Japanese
entrenchment in the Aleutian chain. Elements landed, 11 May 1943, and fought a bitter battle
over freezing tundra against fanatically resisting Japanese, finally defeating the Japanese at
Chicago Harbor. In August 1943 elements of the Division took part in the assault on Kiska, only
to find the island deserted by the Japanese. With the Aleutians secured, the Division moved to
Hawaii, where it trained in amphibious landing technique and in jungle warfare. On 31 January
1944 the Division landed on islands in the Kwajalein Atoll in conjunction with the 4th Marine
Division, and in a week of heavy fighting, wrested them from the Japanese. Elements took part in
the capture of Engebi in the Eniwetok Atoll, 18 February 1944. The Division then moved to
Oahu, T. H., remaining there until mid-September when it sailed to join the assault on the
Philippines. On 20 October 1944, the Division made an assault landing at Dulag, Leyte, and after
heavy fighting secured airstrips at Dulag, San Pablo, and Buri. The troops moved north to take
Dagami, 29 October, and then shifted to the west coast of Leyte, 26 November, and attacked
north toward Ormoc, securing Valencia, 25 December. An amphibious landing by the 77th
Infantry Division effected the capture of Ormoc, 11 December 1944, and the 7th joined in its
occupation. Mopping up operations continued until early February 1945. Next D-day for the
Division was 1 April 1945, when it made an assault landing on Okinawa. It drove from the west
to the east coast on the first day and engaged in a savage 51-day battle in the hills of southern
Okinawa. Shoulder patch: Red circular patch bearing black hour glass which is formed by
inverted "7" and superimposed "7". - Publisher's List Price = $49.95 -

Lowman, David D. - MAGIC: THE UNTOLD STORY OF U.S.
INTELLIGENCE AND THE EVACUATION OF JAPANESE RESIDENTS FROM THE WEST
COAST DURING WW II- Athena Press - ISBN# 0960273611 - BRAND NEW
Oversized Softcover - A year before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor a select group of
cryptanalysts working in the Army's Signal Intelligence Service broke Japan's highest-level
diplomatic code. The messages they recovered from this effort, code-named MAGIC, revealed
the existence of widespread Japanese espionage networks along the West Coast of the United
States. Using reproductions of the MAGIC messages, David Lowman (Former Special Assistant
to the Director of the NSA) paints a compelling picture of the wartime situation which led
President Roosevelt to order the unfortunate evacuation of all residents of Japanese ancestry from
America's vital and vulnerable West Coast - $35

Lucas, Peter - THE OSS IN WORLD WAR II ALBANIA : COVERT
OPERATIONS AND COLLABORATIONS WITH COMMUNIST PARTISANS -
McFarland Publishing - ISBN# 0786429674 - BRAND NEW Laminated Softcover - 210pp -
Photos - Maps - Notes - Biblio - Index - World War II found Albania fighting a war within a war.
In addition to the threat faced from the Germans, Albania was engaged in a civil war between the
Nazi-sponsored Ballists and the Communist partisans led by Enver Hoxha. While America was
reluctant to get involved in the civil conflict, the United States was naturally inclined to lend
support to whoever fought the Nazis even if that meant an alliance with the Communists. On a
cold November night in 1943, Dale McAdoo (code named Tank) secretly landed on the Albanian
coast with a team of OSS (Office of Strategic Services) agents, including Ismail Carapizzi, an
Albanian guide and interpreter who would later be murdered. McAdoo's team, the first of many
to follow, set up a base of operations in a deep water level cave on the rocky Albanian coast that
served the OSS as it carried out its mission of gathering intelligence to support the Allied war
effort and harass the Germans. McAdoo was joined by Captain Tom Stefan (code name Art), an
Albanian-speaking OSS officer from Boston, whose assignment was to join Hoxha at his remote
mountain headquarters and bond with the reclusive Communist leader to benefit the OSS. This
volume describes how the OSS aided the Communist-led partisans in an attempt to weaken the
Nazi cause in Albania and neighboring Italy. The book presents an in-depth look at the small
core of hardened men who comprised these highly specialized teams, including each member's
background and his special fitness for his wartime role behind enemy lines. The American and
British presence in Albania during World War II and the later deterioration of Hoxha's relations
with Captain Tom Stefan and the OSS mission are discussed in detail. Firsthand interviews with
still-living participants and extensive onsite research make this book a unique resource for a
little-known dramatic piece of World War II history - Publisher's List Price =
